Our approach to literature and language will allow us to delve deeply into a wide variety of rich literary texts in a fashion that will nurture compelling and thought provoking discussions. We will regularly carry out textual (and cross-textual) analyses with critical thought in efforts to exceed the surface exercises in basic plot summary. We will sharpen our writing and language skills through multiple mini-research projects, which will often result in group/individual class presentations. Project-based learning tasks will permeate the learning experiences. ...We will grasp the relevance of the curriculum and obtain college and career readiness skills. The level of rigor will allow NO TIME TO WASTE TIME. Nevertheless, the pace and productivity of this course will make the time fly!

What's the LATEST in Mrs. Dale's Honors English Nine?
2014 End-of-Year Grant Proposal Project from Mrs. Dale on Vimeo. Grant Oroposal Project: Mrs. Dale's Honors English Nine |
2014 End-of-Year Research Project Students worked in teams as nonprofit organizations (fictitiously) to conduct authentic research in order to write a grant proposal requesting funds to provide necessary services for their desired target population within the Shoals area.
Students worked very hard to learn and to recite a monologue from a Shakespearean play. Students chose monologues from the play we're reading in class, Romeo and Juliet. However, students also had the option to choose a monologue from a different play as long as they researched the context, scene, and character's motivation. See a snapshot of just a few of MANY wonderful student-recitations!
